a series of ‘if’

Sometimes life gives us a big greaat wonderful surprise – randomly.

I was chasing a bus when an old woman halts my step and asked me about which bus she needs to take to the Perth City. So I did point her to the right bus stop and even told her to wait for a couple of minutes while my bus was passing in front of us!*GRRRR* At that time I’ve known that I wouldn’t be able to reach work in time…. *sigh* The price that you have to pay for helping a random grumpy old woman….. but that was fine… that was… okay… at least I did good… right?

It was good since I managed to get an empty train. So I picked the last car (or the first.. depends on how you’re looking at it), put my bag down and put my bum to a good rest. I was getting a book out from my bag when I saw a woman’s legs shaking. I didn’t dare to look up in case I’d offend her (honestly, in my good mind the woman is a junkie who needs her fix… they usually shaking uncontrollablyat this moment you should have known that I have a lot of weird imagination in my head….).

I looked up out of curiousity only to find her mouth drooling and her body fell to the floor. I didn’t know what to do and this is not a movie where you can find a doctor anywhere when you yelled out ‘is there any doctor here?‘… So I did what I can. I did what I always want to do. I dialled “000″… “Hi mam, how can I help you this morning?”. That was the time when other passengers noticed about what happened to the woman. Tell me, do we live in a really careless and independent society? A society that wouldn’t look when they heard a big loud thump around them, because they are too scared to be involved in a random matter where they might get hurt, or they might have to spare their time, and sometimes their money to help others. That’s dumb.

Long story short, a couple of paramedic was waiting for her at the next station. I went to work really late. No one cares about what happened and

random or planned?

random or planned?

what I did. Some of them told me that I was so stupid to help her.

I can’t really expect a reward from anybody for doing good things, but at least I can believe that the seizure woman will see her life through a different view. Where random people are not so bad…. and who knows what else life can throw at you? :)

But life taught me different thing. Life taught me that doing random act of kindness is okay. It won’t hurt you. It will only give you a zest of happiness at the end of it. You know, if I didn’t talk to the old woman (grumpy too!), my bus wouldn’t pass me in the first place. If my bus didn’t pass me, then I wouldn’t take the train. If I didn’t take the train then I wouldn’t see the seizure woman. What a series of if. I believe everyone has been through the part of life, where we didn’t have any control of what was happening in our life.

Life taught me that everything doesn’t have to work the way I want it to work. Sometimes even the end can justify the process it took to get there.
